Healthy Body Image Is Great, But We Don't Need To See Shayne Lamas' Nude ...
I sympathize your point at the same time as I see it from a number of perspectives. With the mass objectification and unreasonable standards for women portrayed in the media, being teeming was a time when women could almost “opt out” of that stress since being pregnant meant, oh, well, there’s no way I can even think about trying to look like a wonderful-model. Being pregnant was a kind of vacation from the stress of mass media expectation. So I agree that the trend of the rectify-looking pregnant woman can potentially feel frustrating, like, come on, I *still* have to worry about this even when I’m heavy with child now (in addition to throwing up all the time!)?
That said, we all know there is beauty in pregnancy and taking photos pregnant is nothing new. I see this as a analysis more about the fetishizing of it on magazine covers, turning pregnancy into commodity because really, a fashion magazine is there to sell a certain idea to make money for the magazine and for those/the stars featured in it, whether that image includes actual clothing or not.
