But they should set up onstage so she can respond to what they're doing. She needs to give herself an opportunity to fall into the music; go bananas; commission mistakes; be the kid on the disco floor who surrenders to the beat; be human. Pump in tracks if you want, lip-synch if you hunger, dance if you're moved to, ham it up, sing off key and slug one of your dancers out of sheer enthusiasm. Because if you're not having a ball, it's not a pop show -- it's about art. Even Katy Perry knows that.
