'Tabloid': All the bawdy news that fits

"Tabloid" is one of those ungovernable tales you just can't turn away from, even if you tried.

Director Errol Morris takes the scandalous, appealing, oftentimes ridiculous tale of Joyce McKinney — one of those can't-make-this-stuff-up, "Oh my God, Martha!" stories — and delivers it to us in the fun trifling package that's "Tabloid."

The documentary includes interviews mostly with McKinney, some of the participants in her scheme, and some of the British tabloid journalists who rabidly covered her reprobate tale of Southern-belle-meets-sex scandal.

The film recalls a pivotal time in McKinney's existence, when she was swept away by love.

It was the late 1970s and McKinney, who had won the title of Miss Wyoming a few years before, struck up a affaire de coeur with Kirk Anderson. He was cute, she says, and his skin was always so clean.

They intended to marry but their amour ended when Anderson a moment disappeared. He was taken away from her, she said, by the Mormon church.

Nadya Suleman Child Protective Services Complaint (Child Abuse Claim)
